"Don't Give Up"
PIMO: In this proud
faith we grew up strong
we were wanted all along
I was taught
to speak, taught to preach
I never thought I could fail
no
truth left or so it seems
I am a man whose dreams have all
deserted
They've changed my mags, They've changed my songs
but
no one wants you when you're old
APOSKATE: don't give up
'cos
you have friends
don't give up
you're not beaten yet
don't
give up
I know you can make it good
PIMO: though I saw it
all around
never thought I could be affected
thought that we'd
be the last to go
it is so strange the way things turn
drove
the night toward my home
the place that I was born, on the
lakeside
as daylight broke, I saw TTATT
the GB had sold us down the river
APOSKATE: don't give up
you still have
us
don't give up
we don't need much of anything
don't give
up
'cause somewhere there's a place
where we belong
rest
your head
you worry too much
it's going to be alright
when
times get rough
you can fall back on us
don't give up
please
don't give up
PIMO: 'got to walk out of here
I can't take
any more
going to sign on that site
keep my eyes down
below
whatever may come
and whatever may go
that forum's
growing
that forum's growing
moved on to another cong
tried
hard to settle down
for every job, so many men
so many men
no-one needs
APOSKATE: don't give up
'cause you have
friends
don't give up
you're not the only one
don't give
up
no reason to be ashamed
don't give up
you still have
us
don't give up now
we're proud of who you are
don't give
up
you know it's never been easy
don't give up
'cause I
believe there's a place
there's a place where we belong

i recently watched a series which was broadcast a year ago on uk channel 4 called dicte - an import from denmark.
the main character is a journalist, but it is revealed in the first 5 minutes that she was brought up as a jw.
when she was in her teens, she had a baby which was removed from her.
I've only seen the first series so far. Good to know someone else shares my taste.

I recently watched a series which was broadcast a year ago on UK Channel 4 called Dicte - an import from Denmark. The main character is a journalist, but it is revealed in the first 5 minutes that she was brought up as a JW. When she was in her teens, she had a baby which was removed from her. Now she is grown up, her parents shun her. It is shown quite accurately - at one point she goes to their house and they shut the door in her face without speaking. When she says she has only come to collect something, they return, hand it to her and shut the door again. Her experiences are referred to several times through the series.
Anyone else see it (still available on catchup) or anything else which shows how exJWs are treated.
The show is good, BTW, though not up to the standard of The Bridge or The Killing for fans of scandinoir.

for those not aware:- during the circuit visit there is a meeting with elders &ministerial servants based on an outline.
the mss are dismissed then local matters (eg new elders, meeting attendance etc) are discussed.
recently there has also been a part of the outline just for elders - one year it was about stopping anyone dressing in a "gender blurring" way from going on the ministry.. the latest visit has a section of the outline for elders.
Freddo - MS outline was the usual sort of stuff - set a good example in bible study, helping own family, build trust in Jehovah & his org, balance secular & theocratic responsibilities and take the lead in field ministry.
Yoko - this is from the UK but is probably the same everywhere.

The latest visit has a section of the outline for elders. There are two main points in it - KS10 (elders book) ch4 para 20 about separation being a personal issue ie don't interfere and also a point about handling cases of child abuse. Bearing in mind the ARC and all of the other issues what do you think they want to emphasize? The answer is "What to do if an abuser or suspected abuser moves congregation" The BOE 2016-08-01 letter paragraph 21 was read in full and that was it!!
The text reads -"21. Moving to Another Congregation: When an individual who has been accused of child sexual abuse (established or not) moves to another congregation, two elders from the congregation the individual moves from should immediately call the Legal Department. The elders should be prepared to provide the name of the new congregation, if known. This should be done even if the individual is disfellowshipped or is in prison and is transferred to another facility or is released. The Congregation Service Committee should not send any information to the new congregation until after receiving legal advice from the Legal Department and direction from the Service Department."

was out side a jdubs house while they were playing kingdom songs.
this is how the conversation went.. me: did you realize that one of their kingdom songs was a copy from the jurassic park theme song.. jdub: where did you find this.
me: hey i've got the down load to the movie, and that theme song has a striking resemblance to that song you just played.
I can't remember the title of the kingdom song (from the brown songbook) but it was a note for note copy of a song by Queen - "Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon" from "A Night at the Opera". Most JWs enjoyed singing the song because it was actually good without realising why.

ok guys, i have been tasked to ask for your opinions regarding this case.. and be honest.
my brother sexted a girl a little over a year ago, they never dated, and she got mad at him.... she got engaged and the engagement ended in august.. she attempted suicide, then talked to the elders an told him she was gonna tell on him too, now that was in august, the sister told my brother that since she didn't know his hall they couldn't do anything.. we found that doesn't seem right, so hes been freaking out, but ita now two days away from 2017 and the elders haven't speaked to him yet.. why could that be?
could they give him all this time to confess?
"think like an elder" - isn't that an oxymoron?
Seriously though, as an elder, my advice would definitely be to deny everything - the burden of proof is on them. Unfortunately this is also true in child abuse cases.

i may be reading more into this than is there, but here is what i've spotted from today's watchtower study (oct 2016 study edition) page 14 paragraph 8. concerning daniel it says "thus, some 70 years after his arrival in babylon, he was still known by his hebrew name" referring to an event in the first year of darius ie 539/538 bce.
however, according to the wtbts chronology daniel went to babylon in 617 bce - more like 80 years earlier.
could this (finally) be a step towards ditching 607?.
